Material Calculators
Choose the calculation that matches what you need to buy.

Concrete slab
Measure rectangular areas and add them together.

Post-hole volume
Subtract the post from the hole volume.

Concrete bags
Turn volume and product yield into bag counts.

Gravel volume
Estimate volume, optional weight and packaging.

Sand volume
Plan area, depth and packaging for your sand.

Mulch quantity
Measure beds and compare bags with bulk.

Paint for multiple rooms
Subtract openings and combine matching paint.

Wallpaper rolls
Check drops, trimming and pattern repeat.

Tile quantity
Turn surface area into tile pieces and boxes.

Flooring cartons
Combine room areas and round up to cartons.

Brick & block quantity
Use face dimensions, openings and joints.

Drywall sheets
Estimate sheet counts from net surface area.

When you need a volume
Use the slab or post-hole tool for concrete geometry. For gravel, sand and mulch, start with area and depth. The concrete bag tool converts a required mixed volume using the yield you enter.
When you need coverage
Paint needs surface area, coats and coverage per unit of paint. Wallpaper needs wall dimensions, usable strip lengths and roll specifications. These are different calculations, even when they cover the same wall.
When you buy packs or sheets
Tile uses piece dimensions and pieces per box. Flooring uses coverage per carton. Masonry estimates face units with a joint module; drywall uses sheet dimensions and net surface area.
Choose inputs you can verify
Measure the areas you intend to cover and copy material specifications from your selected product. Example values are there to explain a method. Replace them before preparing your own order.
- Keep a unit beside every measurement.
- Decide your own allowance; it is not a universal recommendation.
- Read the method and limitations before using the purchase quantity.
Sources and method
- PackLedge quantity methods
Original derivations using geometry, ratios, sums and whole-package rounding. Each calculator explains its assumptions and worked examples.
