Material calculator
Drywall Sheet Calculator
Calculate an area-based sheet quantity for the surfaces you have measured.
Your measurements
Changing units changes the display, not the stored measurement.

Enter the measurements and product details, then calculate.
An area estimate, not a cutting layout. Cuts, shape and pattern placement can affect what you buy.
Keep walls and ceilings identifiable
Enter the surfaces that will receive the selected board and deduct measured openings from the appropriate surface. A room’s floor area is not automatically its wall area. Walls need their own width and height, while a flat rectangular ceiling uses length and width.
Keep different board specifications in separate groups. A shared sheet size does not prove that two products are interchangeable. The calculator does not select board thickness, performance rating or a fastening method.
Use your selected sheet size
Enter sheet width and height in labelled units. Multiplying them gives the face area of one sheet. After applying the allowance you choose, divide the required surface area by sheet area and round up to a whole sheet.
Example: 1.2 m by 2.4 m sheets
A net surface area of 30 m² with a chosen 10% allowance requires 33 m². A sheet measuring 1.2 m by 2.4 m has an area of 2.88 m². Dividing 33 by 2.88 and rounding up gives 12 sheets.
The 12 sheets provide 34.56 m² of face area. That is 1.56 m² above the allowance-adjusted requirement. It does not mean a 1.56 m² usable piece will remain after fitting: the shape and placement of cuts can change what is reusable.
Check openings without hiding errors
Deduct a door or window once, from the surface it occupies. If deductions exceed that surface’s gross area, correct the measurements or units. The tool should not silently replace an impossible negative area with zero.
Treat fitting as a separate task
This model does not arrange sheets, determine seam locations or optimise offcuts. A long narrow surface and a compact surface can have the same area but different fitting needs. Review the actual layout and the product specification before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Can I combine wall and ceiling quantities?
Only when the chosen board and purchase specifications match. Keep the source surfaces visible even when their unrounded requirements share a purchase group.
Does a sheet count guarantee a cutting layout?
No. The result is based on total area and the allowance you enter. It does not model every seam or cut.
