Enter the measurements and product details, then calculate.

These tools estimate material quantities from dimensions you choose. They do not specify structural depth or load capacity.

Use the dimensions of the actual roll

Enter wall width and height, roll width and usable length, and the total trimming allowance for the top and bottom of each strip. Choose free matching or straight matching. For straight matching, enter the vertical repeat from the selected wallpaper.

This tool does not model half-drop patterns, alternating A/B rolls or custom mural panels. Do not select straight matching merely because it is the closest available label. Those products require their own matching and cutting plan.

Follow the three rounding steps

First, divide wall width by roll width and round up to full strips. For free matching, strip length is wall height plus total trim. For straight matching, round that length up to a complete number of repeats. Then round the usable strips in a roll down, and the number of rolls to buy up.

Strips = ceiling(wall width / roll width). Straight-match strip length = ceiling((wall height + total trim) / repeat) × repeat.

Example: a straight-match feature wall

An illustrative wall is 3 m wide and 2.5 m high. The chosen roll is 0.53 m wide and 10.05 m long. With 0.1 m total trim and a 0.64 m repeat, the wall needs six strips. Each strip is rounded from 2.6 m to 3.2 m. Three complete strips fit in a roll, so the requirement is two rolls.

Different heights may form separate groups

Walls with the same effective strip length can share a strip group. Different effective lengths are rounded separately to rolls. This is a conservative, checkable grouping; it does not search for an optimal mix of short and long cuts or reuse joined offcuts.

The model does not add an unentered starting alignment loss before the first strip. Check the usable roll length and any starting allowance needed by your product. Small openings are not treated as guaranteed savings of complete full-height strips.

Review the product before buying

Keep roll dimensions, match type and repeat with the result. The calculation estimates quantities; it does not supply a hanging plan or guarantee that every offcut can be used.

Frequently asked questions

Can I subtract a door’s area from the strip count?

Not as a simple area deduction. A door may leave strips that still need full-height alignment or material above it. This model counts full-height strips rather than optimising every cut.

What happens if no complete strip fits in a roll?

Review the wall height, trimming allowance, repeat and usable roll length. A zero-strips-per-roll result cannot produce a valid roll order.
