Add Your Own Prices and Currencies
Prices are optional inputs. The material quantities remain useful before you have a quote.
Price the unit shown on the purchase line
A unit price must match the quantity it multiplies. If a line is purchased in bags, the price is per bag; if it uses a quantity unit without package counting, use the unit shown for that priced quantity.
Do not enter a price per cubic metre into a field describing a bag price. The numbers may look plausible while representing a different purchase. Keep the product specification with the price as well.
Use information you actually have
PackLedge does not fetch current prices, supplier stock or quotes. Enter a price from the information you intend to use and choose its currency. Keep relevant notes if that helps you remember the source.
Changing a product or package size requires reviewing the price basis. An earlier price for a different package should not silently remain attached to the new specification.
A blank price is not zero
Leave a price absent when it is unknown. The quantity calculation can still be saved and reviewed. A subtotal containing only priced lines should not be presented as the complete cost of a project with unpriced materials.
A deliberate zero price is a different input from no price. Keep that distinction if you are recording material already available or another situation where a zero is intentional.
Keep currencies separate
The project retains the currency attached to each price. Different currencies are shown in separate subtotals because PackLedge does not provide an exchange-rate service. Do not add them into a single unlabelled amount.
Similarly, otherwise matching material lines with different unit prices or currencies retain separate pricing specifications. Combining quantities must not overwrite the price information of either line.
Review the multiplied quantity
For a packaged purchase, the line amount follows the whole-package count and the price per package. For a quantity-based purchase, check the displayed priced quantity and unit. The exported priced_quantity and priced_unit fields make that basis explicit.
The amount is a material calculation from your inputs. It is not a supplier invoice or a promise about taxes, delivery, minimum-order charges or availability. Include any external purchasing terms in your own review before buying.
Export again after a price change
A downloaded file records the state at the time it was prepared. Update the project and create a fresh export when quantities or prices change. Keep older files labelled clearly if you retain them for comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no single total for my project?
A complete single-currency total requires compatible currency information and prices for all relevant lines. Missing prices or mixed currencies should remain visible instead of being guessed.
