Project guide
Tile Quantity for Bathroom Walls
Measure the tiled height of each wall instead of assuming every wall is covered to the same level.
Your measurements
Changing units changes the display, not the stored measurement.

Example inputs
Your result will appear here
Enter the measurements and product details, then calculate.
An area estimate, not a cutting layout. Cuts, shape and pattern placement can affect what you buy.
Give each wall its own covered rectangle
Record the width and intended tile height of each wall. A full-height wall and a half-height wall are different measured surfaces. Deduct only the part of a door or window that intersects the tiled area.
Keep different tile products or formats in separate purchase groups. Matching room location does not mean the tile specification matches.
Example with several coverage heights
Suppose the tiled rectangles are 2 m by 2.4 m, 2 m by 1.2 m, and two sections each 1.5 m by 1.8 m. Gross tiled area is 12.6 m². If measured openings within those rectangles total 1.8 m², the net area is 10.8 m².
A chosen 10% allowance gives 11.88 m². With illustrative 0.3 m by 0.6 m tiles, the area-based requirement is 66 pieces. At eight pieces per box, nine boxes provide 72 tiles, covering 12.96 m².
Check an opening against its wall
A door may extend above a partial-height tile band. Subtract the overlapping tiled portion, not automatically the entire door. If deductions exceed the tiled rectangle, review the units and the part being measured.
Keep installation decisions separate
This page estimates material face area and package counts. It does not specify waterproofing, substrate preparation, adhesive, movement joints or product suitability. It also does not provide a tile-cutting layout.
Keep a separate layout review for corners, niches and pattern direction. The 1.08 m² purchase surplus in this example is arithmetic coverage, not a guaranteed collection of reusable pieces.
Frequently asked questions
Should I enter room height for every wall?
Enter the height that will actually be tiled on that wall. Use room height only when it accurately describes the intended coverage.
