Sand Volume for Paver Bedding
Calculate the amount of sand for the layer you have specified.
Your measurements
Changing units changes the display, not the stored measurement.

Example inputs
Your result will appear here
Enter the measurements and product details, then calculate.
These tools estimate material quantities from dimensions you choose. They do not specify structural depth or load capacity.
Measure this layer on its own
Enter the length and width of each included rectangular sand section, leaving borders and other materials outside those rectangles. A gravel layer below the same footprint is a separate calculation because its depth and material parameters can differ.
The depth is an input from your project specification. PackLedge does not recommend a bedding depth, sand grading, compaction method or paver installation system.
Example: a rectangular bedding area
An illustrative area 6 m by 3 m contains 18 m². With a user-selected depth of 0.04 m, the net volume is 0.72 m³. A chosen 10% allowance produces a required volume of 0.792 m³.
Compare volume with the purchasing unit
If a selected bag supplies a user-entered 0.02 m³, 40 bags provide 0.8 m³. That leaves 0.008 m³ above the adjusted requirement. If the supplier sells by mass instead, enter a density supplied for the relevant material and condition before converting the volume.
A mass printed on a bag is not a direct volume specification. Keep the two types of information separate instead of assuming that similarly sized bags contain the same volume.
Check assumptions before sharing the list
Save the sand description, dimensions, depth and allowance with the result. Confirm whether the quantity basis used by the supplier matches your estimate. An unverified density or a guessed depth can make a precise-looking number unsuitable for the actual order.
The shopping list records your inputs; it does not certify the construction method or place an order.
Frequently asked questions
Does the estimate include the gravel under the sand?
No. Add that material as a separate layer with its own dimensions, depth and purchasing specification.
