Wallpaper Rolls for a Feature Wall

The chosen pattern can change the purchase even when the wall stays the same.

Your measurements

Changing units changes the display, not the stored measurement.

Enter the measurements and product details, then calculate.

These tools estimate material quantities from dimensions you choose. They do not specify structural depth or load capacity.

Measure the full strip height

Record the wall width and the height each full strip must cover. Enter total top-and-bottom trimming allowance separately. Use the selected wallpaper’s roll width, usable length and match information.

A small opening is not automatically a saving of a complete strip. This model does not optimise cuts around sockets, doors or windows.

Example: one wall, two matching rules

Take an illustrative wall 4 m wide and 2.2 m high, a 0.53 m roll width, a 10.05 m usable roll length and 0.1 m total trim. The wall needs eight strips.

For free matching, each strip is 2.3 m long. Four complete strips fit in a roll, so two rolls cover the eight strips. For straight matching with a user-entered 0.64 m repeat, each strip rounds up to 2.56 m. Only three complete strips fit in a roll, so the purchase becomes three rolls.

State the alignment assumption

The calculation does not add an unentered starting alignment loss before the first strip. Check the usable roll length and any starting allowance needed for the product. It also does not model half-drop matching, alternating A/B rolls or mural panels.

Keep the product details on the list

Save the match type, repeat and roll dimensions with the wall. A result labelled only three rolls is incomplete if the product changes. Recalculate if the roll length or repeat changes, even when the wall measurements do not.

The illustration shows how lengths are counted. It is not a hanging sequence or a guarantee that every remaining piece can be reused.

Frequently asked questions

Why not divide wall area by roll area?

A roll must provide complete strips of the required length and matching pattern. Area alone does not show how many usable strips fit.
